Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and regular reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He saved four early chances in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
